My First Book of the Year
2011 has begun and so has my reading. I am currently finishing up a series before I start my next group of books...the next book in the series happened to be a Christmas book. Probably would have been better to read it a few weeks ago, but I am a stickler for staying in order. Lakeshore Christmas, by Susan Wiggs, was an easy, light read. More about the book can be found here.
The book is pretty predictable and the character development is pretty shallow, but an easy enjoyable read none the less. I finished in 3 evenings (about 6 hours). I enjoy reading series of books because I like to see how a character will develop over time. This book touched very lightly on characters in past books. A bit of a let down there.
Happy Reading!

52 Books in 52 Weeks
I have always been an avid reader. I would rather sit at home with a book than head out for a night on the town. I can't remember when my love for books started, it has always been a part of me. My son is becoming a bookworm too. 6 weeks after his 4th birthday he started reading books from school. Story time is always a big deal in my house...even the dog gets excited when he hears it is time for a story. Sam and I both love the weight and smell of a book.
The spring of 2010 was a very difficult one for me. I had a miscarriage and the company my husband worked for pulled out of Canada. One morning, a few weeks after I had my miscarriage, I woke up and the first thing I saw was a stack of books I had read. My first thought was "How stupid to waste your time. What are you going to do with those books?" My next thought "That is a lot of books. I wonder if I can read 52 books in 52 weeks..." I needed a distraction and a new goal. My baby was to be due in January 2011. So, instead of counting down the weeks until my baby was supposed to be born, I would count up the books I read and see if I could accomplish something else.
I surpassed my goal. Between January 1 and December 31, 2010 I read 64 books and over 24,000 pages. (This count does not include what Sam and I read over the year.)
I read a lot of fluff in 2010. Most of the books came from Shannon Haeberle and my favourite used book store. Below is my list:
